Also, you said some time? ago that you had problems getting the low-b saddle back far enough for intonation. I ran into the same problem after a string brand change. As it turns out, I had too much relief in my neck. A quick truss rod adjustment (and string height adjustment to take care of buzz) made it to were I didn't need to move the saddle so far back for intonation.

I have a screw here with a 4.88mm thread width and a 3.5mm shank. Drilling that hole straight out with a 5mm bit would make a hole >5mm wide and likely misaligned! A 5mm bit would prevent looseness and still allow the neck to be "pulled in".
Dan Erlewine's tech tips are sound but essentially sell Stewmac products ;-)

My Fender was wired that way from the factory with passive pups but active tone control and when the blend is in the middle they are both full on. No matter the case, the sound is the final divider and if you get that sound with 2 volumes, I envy you. Great tone man!

I wanted both pickups on full, so i had to remove the bland pot. I also like having 100% - 30% configurations. There is nothing wrong with blend pots, I just don't like them because I can't get the sound I like out of them. Besides, passive circuitry means volumes are always cuts and not boosts, so blend and master volume is a little redundant.

Testing an EMG 40P5 pickup in the neck, and an EMG 40J pickup in the bridge of my Schecter C-5 Bass. I record using Ableton Live 7 through a Bass Pod Xt on bypass. No EQ of volume has been edited in Ableton, just rendered at maximum quality. An Ibanez PD7 is used for distortion on Hysteria.
