I was becoming impatient and just wanted the last room done so I thought I would skip measuring the room and maybe I'll get lucky. Well, I? ended up with my final row being 3/4" wide. Had to rip a thin piece and glue it in. It worked, and you can't even notice the joint but it's still a pain.

However, I ignored that measurement because of time factor and I felt as though I would get lucky and not have to worry about it. Guess what? I only had room for boards that were 1' 1/2" wide...and it turned out fine. It all depends on how much you like to put? up with at the end of the project.

One word of caution though.. it's not a good idea to prop laminate boards up long ways against a wall. They will bow a little bit if you leave them like that very long.? And that of course will make them tougher to lock down

Measure the width of the room and calculate how big you need to rip your first piece so that your last peice is no less than 2 inches wide. The last thing you want is to get to your final row and the piece is too narrow to install and the gap is too big for? the molding to cover. I ran into this my first time installing and I ended up having to buy a 1/4 round to fill the gap.
