By: Razgrits. on 17 May 12, 08:31:09 I don't think the mass on top of the earth changes, those buildings that were there, were there as well before they were built since we just redistributed our resources. Every single human's weight is already compensated by the elements used? from them to grow. The shape of the earth is because of the gravity and it's spinning motion. The inertia could be a good reason making the 'sides' go outwards or simply it gathers 'space dust' as it spins adding to it's mass. Or both?

(big buildings and a lot of people) that the earth's gravity pulls on those sides more, and less on the poles. if you understand what I mean. Please answer, thanks.

You're assuming ... By: Frazraf. on 21 May 12, 22:55:32 You're assuming relativity doesn't kick in until the speed of light. In reality even running on a moving train is bound to the special rules? of relativity, but since the speeds are so low we can just add the speeds and get a result precise enough. 51% the speed of light is enough to make a difference however, and two bodies moving at 51% the speed of light only add up to about 80.9% the speed of light.
Thanks man? :) By: topas12345. on 21 May 12, 12:34:40 Thanks man? :)
It's not really the ... By: Jonassoe. on 21 May 12, 11:04:06 It's not really the relative speed that matters. What matters is the amount of kinetic energy you can pack into each particle. When each particle's speed approaches the speed? of light, adding more energy to the beam no longer translates into an increase in speed, but instead the mass of the particles increases in accordance with the energy-mass equivalence that we know from relativity. There is no theoretical bound to how much energy a particle can absorb this way.
Thanks, but I guess ... By: allamericandude15. on 21 May 12, 01:41:49 Thanks, but I guess my follow-up question to that is: If the particles can't approach each other at more than the speed of light, what's the point of getting them to go 99.9% the speed of light? Couldn't they? just have both particles go 51% the speed of light to get the same effect?

Well firstly you ... By: lrpbpb. on 23 Mar 12, 04:05:17 Well firstly you must remember that the acceleration due to gravity is constant for any reasonable height on earth's surface. The math workouts in such a way that the gravitational force of the earth is the same at any given height for? any object despite the object's mass. Hence the acceleration of a one or ten or thousand kg ball is the same; all of them will hit the ground at the same time if dropped from the same height (disregarding air friction).

When you get tired of all the satellite trails you can actually "move" them out of the way.
All you need is a good tracking and targeting system and a laser.
You move it by hitting a specific side of the satellite. Some patience and there you go.
Just be careful to not burn a hole in it or cut off one of the solar arrays. That would be like ripping the wings of a fly.
Of course they will correct it (unless you burn out the receiver) ;D

Of course I do, but how would you know? You can't even understand something that's been laid out in plain English for you, let alone read my mind. Hell, so far you haven't even disagreed with anything I've actually said.
You aren't bright enough to take yourself as seriously as you do. Just let it go. Chalk it up as a learning experience if it makes you feel better.

What? No it doesn't. My logic makes the claim that your inability to present your thoughts correctly to people leads to people misunderstanding your intent. That is not a straw man and it is not circular. Try again. And this time, show me how on earth calling somebodies theories 'shite'? and calling people 'clever, clever scientists' in the way you did after disagreeing with them isn't hostile.
Your inability to ... By: mrwho995. on 29 Apr 12, 08:06:00 Your inability to accept fault, even after I do, in something? where you so clearly presented your thoughts so poorly makes me wonder whether you are projecting with the claims you put onto me.
You are throwing around accusations such as 'staw men' and 'circular logic' when you have no idea what either actually mean. How is me showing you where you poorly showed your thoughts either of those things?
It seems that you don't 'have it in you to absorb and apply this knowledge'.
"If hostility ... By: skoockum. on 29 Apr 12, 02:29:56 "If hostility wasn't intended in your comments, you present your thoughts terribly."
In view of the reality of our discussion, your logic (almost certainly unknowingly) makes the claim that it's my fault that your personal baggage is why you can't see? beyond your personal baggage.
However, because you moved the discussion into the literal and serious realm, you're required to refrain from using circular logic when you're building straw men.
Lay off the caffeine. Relax. Learn to laugh.
After a? little bit ... By: mrwho995. on 27 Apr 12, 19:31:34 After a? little bit of research (okay, I just looked it up on wiki) it seems that a particle with an imaginary rest mass (that is, a rest mass of the square root of a minus number) would travel faster than light. I know nothing about imaginary numbers, but I think I was wrong in my belief that a particle with a negative mass travels faster than light.
A tachyon is a ... By: mrwho995. on 27 Apr 12, 19:26:58 A tachyon is a theoretical particle that travels faster than the speed of light (in fact,? it cannot travel slower). I believe theory goes that a particle with a negative mass would act like a tachyon in that it could not travel slower than the speed of light (hence it is tachyonic). Don't quote me on that though!

Fine, if you ... By: mrwho995. on 27 Apr 12, 07:03:28 Fine, if you weren't being hostile I clearly misinterpreted you.
However, the problem also lies in how you present your thoughts. It is perfectly reasonable to interpret hostility when someone refers to somebody's? ideas as 'shite'. It is also perfectly reasonable to interpret sarcasm when, after clearly disagreeing with the scientists' conclusions, you call them 'clever' in the way you did. If hostility wasn't intended in your comments, you present your thoughts terribly.

I wasn't using sarcasm when I called them clever -- and *that* is precisely what I was on about when I said the hostility you were "reading" in my comment was actually something that only existed somewhere between your ears.
So now I've told you twice that you? badly misinterpreted my meaning. Do you have it in you to absorb and apply this knowledge?

If? kinetic energy ... By: mrwho995. on 26 Apr 12, 00:24:32 If? kinetic energy can be negative, and Kinetic Energy = 1/2mv^2, doesn't that mean that m must be negative, hence we have negative mass, hence tachyonic travel exists?

I don't think the mass on top of the earth changes, those buildings that were there, were there as well before they were built since we just redistributed our resources. Every single human's weight is already compensated by the elements used? from them to grow. The shape of the earth is because of the gravity and it's spinning motion. The inertia could be a good reason making the 'sides' go outwards or simply it gathers 'space dust' as it spins adding to it's mass. Or both?

I have a question that I have never found an answer to, I read that the earth is becoming more and more egg formed so here is my question: Is the reason (if it's true) that earth is becoming that on either side (I know there is no sides to a sphere) let say America and Asia that there is so much mass concentrated in such a small area? (big buildings and a lot of people) that the earth's gravity pulls on those sides more, and less on the poles. if you understand what I mean. Please answer, thanks.

I love that laugh at the start of the video. It's like? he's realizing that there are questions more simple than what "mass" is, questions like, "will it hurt?" lol
