I don't have enough of a musical knowledge to say... then again of course they do in some way or another. But they are indeed original.
I will say that I wish Pearl Jam did experiment wider.

man kurt cobain sang with his throat, he put a high amount of emotion into his singing. Layne? does this as well but Kurt also played guitar "while singing" thus' having to split his energy into two forms. One singing and one playing. It's kinda hard to sing and play "with perfection" at them same time if you ask me and im sure others. But in the end they are both amazing and seperatly but gifted artist.
