No it won't ... By: MrGazza1964. on 15 May 12, 13:56:18 No it won't distract the candidate! Yet again "cost" is the real reason! How much is someone's life worth according to the DSA? The DSA are creating about 14 minutes? of video. Google are trying to capture the planet's entire road system!!! As a result of Google's experience the necessary software is available, probably wouldn't be prohibitively expensive for the tiny amount of DSA video and it wouldn't take long for DSA staff to double check everything was blanked out.

With current digital imaging and little investment the DSA could've used actual footage from real roads. I recently used a very impressive and portable cgi hpt system (although the graphics weren't to PS3 standards). The problem is each unit costs £10,000 and, whilst I understand that this is just too much to meet demand, we have to accept? that the DSA won't invest in road safety.

By: Spike20101000. on 17 Apr 12, 16:17:31 The CPC would be a good idea if it was a set course that gets you up to date on changes with law, new practices and the like (kinda like ADR), but its been proven (I where there when these courses where put together), that have been put together by people and verified by independent assessors that have no experience of the job at all (didn't seem to care either)
They don't even know the requirements of the driving test.

The instructor sits next to you, like they do all the time, and the inspector sits in the rear and is usually quietly observing and writing down your mistakes. It's because the roads are narrow, and people have to park their cars? on the street, rather than in driveways. As for stick shifts, I believe it's because fuel costs so much more (UK is about 2x as expensive), and automatic cars use more fuel. It would actually be a lot easier to drive automatics, since the roads are so congested.
By: lethalthiz. on 06 May 12, 03:43:05
It's referred to as a "manual" as opposed to a "stick-shift," and since Europe doesn't have straight, flat roads throughout, it makes more sense to drive one. Anywho, driving a manual? is infinitely more fun, but that's just an opinion.
