You get 2x power by just catching the ball in the sweet spot, its like giving your strokes steriods! It also makes a much different sound almost like a "crunch"! I went to a challenger tourney recently and when you hear the sound of racquets catching the sweet spot repeatedly it makes you want to replicate that sound!

hi Mauro, cool ... By: Fitness4London. on 12 Apr 12, 07:34:16 hi Mauro, cool video. I love the backhand slice, so versatile.
Maybe sometime you could do a video showing how to produce different types of slice, particularly the slice with sidespin. This is one of my favourite shots, I love watching the opponent completely wrong-footed by a vicious sidespin slice that bounces off to the side.
Another video you might consider is to explain when to slice and when? to topspin a backhand. I often chicken out and slice what I should have driven with topspin.

Hi Coach? Mauro! I ... By: MegaReemas. on 07 Jan 12, 23:52:57 Hi Coach? Mauro! I have been experimenting with this, I think as you say its more of an advanced movement because the timing has to be right and the wrist movement has to be vertical. In the past I heard "rolling over the ball" was a no no but now I do see many players doing it. The ending position is much more to the side. One thing I like is my arm feels more relaxed at the end of the swing as opposed to when my wrist is laid back all the way thru the swing. Thanks for posting!!

This is a different type? of windshield wiper action of the wrist (and also forearms), in which the wrist rolls over the ball with vigor right at impact point and provokes way more top spin, than if a player keeps his wrist cocked all throughout the windshield wiper action till finish more like for example a Serena Williams' topspin style, which is a little easier to handle or master for most club players I believe (cM)

Hello John, thanks ... By: CoachKyril. on 22 Dec 11, 23:55:52 Hello John, thanks for your feedback, glad the videos help. In my honest personal opinion, there is no 1 and only correct or right way? to hit the tennis ball, mostly if you are a recreational player. There is more than 1 way to hit with correct fundamentals, it's a matter of a choice as to what feels more comfortable. I advise for the complete player, of 2012 type tennis, to learn to be able to do both type follow through, I've used both all my life, since wood rackets (cM)
