@Kooliojosh I have the same problem but it's kinda easy to understand at the same time, all he is showing in this video is the restrictions part of your formula( any part after l ) That is essentially what his D: and R: is showing... If you mean the sign when it is not inclusive, it would be (3,3) as opposed to [3,3]. I? don't know if that's what you meant.
