I guess you haven't looked through his videos or seen the tv show he is own. If you were to find anyone more knowledgeable as he? is in a well rounded basis i would be extremely suprised... by that i mean he know the basis of damn near every aspect of survival and has almost expertised each of them. He teaches the high and low skill level things... with all that said he's a BOSS
By: bmeyer2011. on 07 Oct 11, 06:01:18
Poor bow drill technique. Cole burning with too much flame and cracking wood, cooking meat over a big flame instead of coals, building a giant hard to heat shelter.... Just not really high? level skill sets here. It's great to see this guy out experimenting with things, but the mistakes made are in my opinion worth commenting on.

@MetalheadJTK Petersons field guide is great for animal tracks, definitely my most used tracking book. ? The SAS survival book is probably my favorite overall survival book. I don't like the SAS tracking book as much though.
By: wildernessoutfitters. on 02 Dec 10, 13:45:12
No as you can see this vid is almost 2 years old.?
By: rabidmonkeygirl. on 02 Dec 10, 13:04:21
Wow, this compliments the "6 Disciplines of Tracking" video perfectly! Are you and the Maine Primitive Skills School affiliated in any way? ? You seem to have the same intensity.
By: enchilada01. on 01 Jun 10, 19:15:23
nope, If I recall correctly, excuse my tracking, havent done it for 20 yrs. Deer dont? have upper teeth so they must clamp w/lower incissors and tear. Rabbits on the other hand clip and leave a slanted cut on the blade of grass they just nibbled. I might be wrong on the Deer, cant remember.
By: jmerrife. on 01 Jun 10, 02:46:47
Different animals eat different grasses, also use? different biting and chewing/nibbling "techniques". I don't know about rabbits or deer nibbling habits; but a theoretical example would be a clump of grass eaten away from the side- as opposed to a clump eaten from the top down.

By: HILL1776BILLY. on 14 Jan 10, 16:46:06
Hey Flamedrag, I seen? your comment about making a survival spear. I made 2 for myself. I used a 1 1/2" 6' dow from home depot and 1 1/2 metal plate 1/8" thick and cut it to shape and used a belt sander to sharpen it. Its drilled and penned in 2 places and epoxy was used to secure it up and hold tight the penns. I will connect a vid of it. Hope this helped. I also made a fishing spear, 3/8" round oak and 5 foot long with a v barb head. Its light weight and pretty sharp point.
By: HILL1776BILLY. on 14 Jan 10, 16:39:44
Real good vid, This guy is the real deal, I do some of these same things and they are how you do it. It also works for fishing, Natural baits work very well. I think its more of a way of thinking than a absolute. Like he? says, Adapt to your situation. . I am learning so much here.
By: flamedrag18. on 04 Dec 09, 04:29:41
damn?
By: enoughraptor6. on 04 Dec 09, 03:44:58
he has gotten rid of some of the old? vids. i think that was one of them.
By: flamedrag18. on 01 Dec 09, 11:58:38
I was wondering, didn't you make a video for making a survival spear? and the opening credits show you making a spear, at least demonstrating how to use one, where's the video??
By: murphalot13. on 17 Sep 09, 06:09:46
Hi Dave i've just discovered your videos? a few days ago and watched many- they are fantastic! Thanks for doing what you do to inspire many people. A question: in any general survival situations would you recommend either a Monocular, or Binoculars? Thanks, Ryan
