Dan Seemiller Jr. (high ranking jr. in nation) delivers different serve types for practice returns. This is from his father's table tennis clinic. I love these drills, but if you can see that it is tough to return these serves. they look simple, but they're loaded with spin!!!

Very good video! I´m not an expert at table tennis, but I think if the ball hit just one time on? the table a good player can atack it, so we have knowing how to do many kinds of serves. Am I wrong??

Thanks for this awesome tut, My question is how would you return a fast side-under spin, because when i try to loop is the side spin makes the ball to bounce too much and of the table it goes and when I try? to do what you told me here it either goes to the net or it lobs up for my opponent to hit a winner, Help ?

Get some long pips:P ? lol

Good table tennis players can make topspin with the same pendulum motion, but use a different timing to achieve this, no matter what in order to make that topspin they have to contact the ball coming upwards (this motion can be very small, which is why a good pendulum serve can be hard to read). When a player uses a reverse pendulum serve it can be confusing if you don't see them often, but either way I'm pretty sure Brian covered your concern in? the video.

All of you videos have been so helpful and have helped me improve my game quite? a bit in the last several months. Thanks so much! Keep on posting these. Can't wait for the next one :) Do you perhaps have videos about footwork or any more or game strategy (perhaps others like the Ep. 1 Shot Selection video)?

Thanks a bunch. Good Luck with your training? and improving.

You can used the opposite direction, but your run the risk of the ball going off the sideline of? the BH. The safer return we be to move the ball to the FH where you have more area to land the return on the table.
By: DynamicTableTennisTV. on 04 Jan 11, 22:00:33
I am currently using my own brand of rubber that I can't talk about yet until it is approved by ITTF, but the rubber I am? using is Tenergy05FX on the FH and BH.
By: DynamicTableTennisTV. on 04 Jan 11, 21:59:32
It is much easier to see on video. It is? much more difficult to deal with that type of Serve when you are at a tournament, playing a player you don't know, the score is tight, and you are not sure if you they went up or down with the lateral movement.
By: haydonlee93. on 04 Jan 11, 20:39:17
theres a big difference in the bounce of the two ball. watch the angle they hit the ball and the? timing
By: GBtabletennis. on 04 Jan 11, 16:09:34
Ok this is very learn full, but now I get a problem. When the angle of the bat looks like a backspin service, there are people who can still make topspin services (oh just look at Waldner he? can). That's so hard to see when it's topspin or underspin.
