Genetic modification of our food. Is it a good idea? Short answer: It could be, if it's done right. It could also be a very bad idea if it's done wrong. There is one instance where a transgene was observed to cross into wild plants. This occurred between very closely related grass species. www.natureinstitute. org

Do they ask a scientists expert opinion at any point in this video? There's one I know but they only show him talking about why people are scared, not if they should? be.
By: Vildasnaga. on 20 May 12, 21:11:45
You're committing a naturalistic fallacy: path A is natural, therefore it is a better? path than path B which is man made/altered. That something evolved or is natural is not grounds for its validity. Google "Naturalistic fallacy". "Unless of course people exist that Want to destroy the population?" Cry me a river of those hypocrite tears to mingle with the seas of human suffering due to hunger, disease and war.

If we have always been eating it then why change since nothing has happened with? eating GMO's.
By: myndy86. on 20 May 12, 13:50:17
Several of the plants used by humans for food today have never been cultivated and are obtained only through the wild and? therefore have only been changed through evolutionary means. So, when you say, "ALL" and, "None" it suggests you don't know enough about food. Your next issue is that there is a precise definition of GMO used by government agencies to distinguish it from selective, cross breeding, etc. because it is different, generally because of use of agrobacterium, virus promoters, etc.
By: Vildasnaga. on 20 May 12, 04:44:03
You are getting lost in meaningless paperwork definitions. So because some paper says the sky aint blue it therefore aint? The definition for GM foods is in its very name: Genetically modified None of the plants we use as food today existed in their current form. They are all vastly different and as a direct result of human tinkering trying to obtain desirable traits from them. We've? always been eating GM foods, the thing is only now people are fully realizing it and freaking out for no reason
By: myndy86. on 20 May 12, 02:43:59
Not ALL human food is GMO, "definitions are used by agencies that regulate genetically modified organisms (GMO's). In the United States, under guidelines issued by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, genetic engineering is defined as the genetic modification of organisms by recombinant DNA techniques (7CFR340: 340.1)." "Recombinant DNA techniques (DNA formed? by combining segments of DNA from different organisms)"ers.usda.gov/briefing/biotechnology/glossary.htm
By: Vildasnaga. on 19 May 12, 19:05:56
You do realize ALL human food is genetically modified? Humans have been tinkering with plants since the dawn of? agriculture. I agree people have a right to know what they eat but this whole paranoia against GM foods has to stop. The word "franken-food" just oozes prejudice and lack of facts.
By: daobagua. on 19 May 12, 14:49:34
Yeah. I agree. While were at? it, lets ban fire, I mean, just look at how many people die from it. And let's ban electricity, those high voltage lines are sure to kill us in our 70s. And let's ban all forms of broadcast, don't you have any idea how harmful those EMF waves are (except for the mach more powerful ones from the sun that we magically evolved to handle). Fuck the Scientists, what do they know.
By: TheObbligato. on 19 May 12, 04:27:14
I am sure that we have got to this point in human evolution without gmo foods so why would we need them ??? Unless of course people exist that Want to destroy the population???? The age of information? wars !wake up you mindless sheep!

WHy would anyone do this? there is? just no point in GMO foods
By: 1787dude. on 17 May 12, 02:06:57
i bet if you smash the flounders and tomatoes? into a paste it would be more resilliant and tasty.
By: solipha1. on 14 May 12, 19:01:31
Natural selection? is also a form of genetic modification...

So, sign every petition to label GMO food, and in personal protest, vote with your almighty dollar buy? only organic and NON GMO labeled food. knowledge is power! know what is most in danger of being GMO eg: soy, corn, oat, wheat. the info is out there but you have to look.
