Yes, you're obviously way too young. You haven't been on the Planet long enough.?
By: Moiturette. on 22 May 12, 12:16:35
Please don't let this musical close after its Los Angeles season. Take it to every major American city. Then bring it to Sydney and Melbourne. Then take it BACK to New York, for a long run on Broadway.? There should be a law that makes everyone see great musicals like [THIS] "Follies".
By: purpleandblack98. on 20 May 12, 17:47:10
Victoria Clark does so much more with the role in Los Angeles right now than Bernadette Peters did. I suggest that those of you who love the show make an attempt to see her in? it! She is truly astonishing.

Alas, I dont think so. I saw this production in previews last summer before heading back up to school and it was beautiful. If you live in NYC though, and have? a NYPL Library Card, I think the library/archives at Lincoln Center can let you watch the official video recording they made for posterity.

So exciting that this production of Follies got 10 drama desk nominations! Totally deserved.? I'm excited to see who is nominated for Tony's tomorrow...

This was not like a typical musical, but? it was still absolutely amazing!!!!

@TTTThatsAllFolks -- i think i get your frustration; it's either too gleeful or too warbly & opera-like; hmph. PEOPLE. i didn't know though, that Ms. Elias was even in the running as? a mark of comparison. (saw her in LITP; wunnuful!)
By: TTTThatsAllFolks. on 25 Dec 11, 04:06:33
Hmph. Would you be happier if the vibrato-less Menzel sang "One More Kiss" or something? LOL! Yikes, guys. It may, also, be relevant to add that they're, well, NOT singing this show operatically...? With the exception, of course, of the divine Ms. Elias. If Cook or McDonald were cast as either leading lady, I could hear what you're? saying. But, since that's not the case, I'm going to go ahead and diagnose you with PTHS (Pretentious Theater-Head Syndrome). :)

Anybody know if there is a full video? of this production anywhere?
By: sianround. on 13 Dec 11, 21:08:52
If only I could see this :(?
By: cgeistweidt. on 30 Nov 11, 00:49:06
I just saw this on Nov. 25. Oo? soooo wonderful. Full cast was in. A must see!
By: buckdelaney. on 30 Oct 11, 03:39:21
Stop singing? it sondheim is brilliant conversationally
By: buckdelaney. on 30 Oct 11, 03:37:54
Sad, one of the things? i love about Sondheim is the that the songs are "conversational" as if just speaking....these people, even BP which i've only seen her do in the sad sad production of Gypsy (So brilliant Sunday in the Park) decides they need to sing this operatically sad sad sad and all is lost
By: katievenido. on 22 Sep 11, 05:19:12
darn, Bernadette P is? one of my favs...but she clearly has gotten a face lift (her eyes alone look bizarre) Darn... :-(
By: kevhippo. on 18 Sep 11, 07:57:04
Why do the songs BP sings sound like they have slowed? them down, a bit laboured like your are willing her to start the next line each time?
By: KeithHarperSF. on 13 Sep 11, 21:59:22
Fun to watch. Would love to see? it in person.
By: folliesfanatic. on 01 Sep 11, 01:41:40
I loved the show in DC but hated the red dress on Bernadette Peters, totally wrong for the character. I saw Dorothy Collins in the original, Peters doesn't even? come close in portraying the lost hope of the character as Dorothy. Just my opinion.

I'm young,? and while I can't necessarily relate entirely to the age aspect of the show, I connect strongly to the show and characters as a whole...especially Sally and Buddy.
By: roais498. on 30 Aug 11, 17:13:49
I saw it in NYC not that great. In love with theater just not this show. My mom really liked it. I think its just because I'm young and? I can't really relate to the show. But the actors were amazing!
By: boynamedalexxx. on 30 Aug 11, 16:38:19
She looked *too* flawless. The new dress seems more down-to-earth, as if it would be something that a somewhat frumpy, depressed Phoenix housewife would have, to try to relive the glamour of her youth. She looked like too much of a knock-out? in the red (she's still a knock-out, she is Bernadette after all, but the new dress feels more appropriate for Sally).
By: peanut251. on 30 Aug 11, 04:25:24
Hold on one second. WHY did they change Bernadette's costume? She looked flawless in the red dress! I mean she would look? beautiful in anything BUT STILL. Ah well. Anyway I loved this show is D.C. I wish I could see it in NYC.

Ahhh so excited to? see this again in New York on flea market day!
