Funny you mentioned that as I just finished an interior reno for someone. I was becoming impatient and just wanted the last room done so I thought I would skip measuring the room and maybe I'll get lucky. Well, I ended up with my final row being 3/4" wide. Had to rip a thin piece and glue it in. It worked, and you can't even notice the joint but it's still a pain.?
By: UntamedGorillaX. on 26 Apr 12, 11:38:48
Apparently there? are some manufacturers who suggest the tongue to be placed to the open room. Thats what I found outn after little researching. I dont really know why. But most manufacturers indeed suggest the tongue to go to the wall which IMO is safer.
By: Kurt Fischback. on 26 Apr 12, 03:35:02
I agree...that's? also noted in most manufacturer's instructions. However, I ignored that measurement because of time factor and I felt as though I would get lucky and not have to worry about it. Guess what? I only had room for boards that were 1' 1/2" wide...and it turned out fine. It all depends on how much you like to put up with at the end of the project.
By: Kurt Fischback. on 26 Apr 12, 03:30:34
That is very true.? It's also the manufacturers 'suggestion.'

Nice? porn music while we lay wood....
By: trackend. on 06 Apr 12, 07:49:57
Very good demo, this is more for UK users but unlike older advice laminate can be used in conservatories but you should increase the breather gap to 15mm and the damp course sheet is only required on properties lacking floor insulation, modern UK regs require 100mm? minimum styrene underfloat insulation and damp course membrane when laying a non suspended concrete floor
By: UntamedGorillaX. on 01 Apr 12, 09:33:32
The tongue side should go to the wall and the groove to the open? room unlike the guy explains. Otherwise you would have to hammer the tongue which may break quickly.
By: taliff. on 01 Apr 12, 02:11:49
good video.. looks like an old military base room of some sort. One word of caution though.. it's not a good idea to prop laminate boards up long ways against a wall. They will bow a little bit if you leave them like that very long. And that of course will make? them tougher to lock down

Great job!? Very useful tips.
By: ThePantyDroper. on 29 Mar 12, 05:17:17
look like an angle grinder with a blade attached. If you want somethign liek this look into the dremel multi tool. it's? an amazing little power tool that can do many different things including cutting the bottom of door jams.
By: ThePantyDroper. on 29 Mar 12, 05:14:27
This video missed a very important step. Measure the width of the room and calculate how big you need to rip your first piece so that your last peice is no less than 2 inches wide. The last thing you want is to get to your final row and the piece? is too narrow to install and the gap is too big for the molding to cover. I ran into this my first time installing and I ended up having to buy a 1/4 round to fill the gap.
By: SASHA1536. on 18 Mar 12, 20:01:40
i thought they were using some sort of glue or thinset for this kind of installation , i? never done anything like this but it seems pretty easy comparing the ceramic tile ..

Most instructions that come with the laminate will tell you to do so. It is recomended, but as you see in this vid it? is more of a guideline than the absolute rule.

Do u have? to cut the tongue side down on the first row ?
