The Alpine does allow you switch between controlling the iPhone/iPod from the iPhone or from the head unit. iPod/iPhone to USB interface cable should work ok. The Alpine FullSpeed cable claims better performance (I've not tested it) and interfaces via a multipin connector NOT USB. By: mtxrules. on 20 Nov 09, 21:41:27 dude Im not sure what you think you know. but Ive had my ebrake wire connected to the accesory wire(red wire) for 5 years now with the old head unit I had and the new one I have now and never have I had an issue. all this wire needs is a 12 volt reading to allow the image to come up on the screen. the only reason company's want it connected to? your ebrake is due to people getting into wrecks watching thier screens. and this my friend is info that comes from licensed installers. check your facts. dont listen to him ... By: mtxrules. on 17 Oct 09, 16:45:23 The red wire from your harness should only read voltage if the key switch is turned to full on, or to the accessory possition. The solid yellow wire(memory/constant) will always read voltage. So make sure you only hook the ebrake wire from the head unit to the red wire in your harness. you should be fine. And yes the ebrake should be 12 volt connection as it is a simple loop connection when the ebrake is engaged. Hope? this helps. Thanks for advice I ...
