Comparing democratic socialism which Moore desires versus socialist dictatorships? in which the German concordance actually involved a direct relationship with the catholic church, praised Hitler's birthday until 1945, and increased anti-semitism among Catholics against Jews is reprehensible.

This fellow has just increased? my respect for Catholicism by roughly a billion times, However, even though he seems to be making sense on how to treat the poor, everything he says seems to run contrary to the behavior of the vatican itself, How can they justify hoarding such tremendous wealth for themselves? shouldn't they take what they need and give the rest to the poor? Do they need gold, thrones fancy robes, palaces? Would Jesus approve of this worship of worldly wealth and power?

Priest, God's wrath will be upon you. Matthew Beware of false prophets, who are wolves in sheep's clothing. Many people who follow their teachings will think they are pleasing to God, but? will be rejected because they have not done His will.

Capitalism is anti-Christian. So is the Catholic church. Which has become political allied? to capitalism today, as it did with other powers of the past, for comfort with the powers that be.

Matthew 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who? of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Christ trumps you Matthew 6:19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." 1 Timothy 6:9 "People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction." Matthew 6:29 "No one can serve two? masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

Can you respond to his point regarding the singular fact that the Church supported such movements. I am only saying this because? it's one of the only things keeping me from converting to Catholicism, that and the Church's stance on condoms . . .
By: xx9933yyzz. on 24 Apr 12, 01:27:10
The "Lukewar Christian" thing was a reference to Laiodecia. Even so, there's more than one way to be active in spreading the word than do what zealots do and stand in the corner screaming.Christ would much rather rule in your heart? than on the physical plane. Was it not He who said His Kingdom was not a physical one? If you pervert Jesus' teachings for some vain militarisitic pursuit as you intend to do, you truely don't care about the world populace, let alone for the well being of a republic.
By: xx9933yyzz. on 23 Apr 12, 16:39:00
Does that give you an excuse to militarize the Church? No. We've done it before, it's called the Crusades, which was done more out of greed than holiness, and even then, Christ would have condemned our actions. Yes, HE's the one to separate the wheat from the chafe, not you, and even then it's on a matter of conscience. Oh, and wasn't it declared a heresy to be against the world of flesh in the early days? You live in a? republic, by the way, so Church affairs can't mix with politics.
By: xx9933yyzz. on 23 Apr 12, 06:35:08
I support neither Lenin or Pinochet. Socialism still permits for capitalism, as socialism in practice controls SOME industries/services. Historically speaking, the Church has supported? facists, monarchs and theocrats, regardless of their notoriety. Even the Catholic Social Teaching is as a response against the capitalism of the late 19th - early 20th century. Outside of Church affairs people can earn money or whatever, but to equate money-earning and Jesus is absurd.
By: xx9933yyzz. on 23 Apr 12, 06:26:02
Wasn't? it Christ who abhorde violence? Wasn't Christ who, still being a Jew, barged into the Temple at the site of the corruption of the zealots? To defend the Church and not call out the corrupt within it is to let it rot. What is your basis upon which you call yourself a Christian? Is it the path of a zealot or is it for the benefit of others? What a petty and superficial view you have of Jesus: thinking him weak enough that you proclaim yourself as a "Soldier of God." Examin yourself.

If they are respected in many Catholic circles, then I have less respect for their bias and no doubt conservative economic perspective,,,"orthodox Catholic circles" makes me cringe...they are dripping with strict economic? dogma...YUK !..I prefer objective circles that actually approach economic issues with an open mind....and facts.Free markets ALONE will never be the complete answer.
By: Dage90. on 16 Apr 12, 05:04:46
Search "What's Wrong with our Economy ? (Dr. Samuel Gregg - Acton Institute)" The Acton Institute was started by an Catholic priest, they are? very respected in orthodox Catholic circles and they know whats up with the economy.

Binary thinking, anyone?! Friend, to say that socialism is oppressive is not to say for a moment that fascism isn't. I don't advocate either Lenin or Pinochet, either Castro or Mussolini. I'm with the Catholic social teaching tradition, which embraces the legitimacy of the market, as? long as that market is situated within a moral framework.
By: xx9933yyzz. on 15 Apr 12, 20:29:11
"Sociallism... is repugnant to human dignity"? OH REALLY! Is that why the Chruch supported facists governments in both Franco's Spain and El Salvador during Romer's time? Is that why? for centuries the Church was used to promote monarchy and theocracy? And where in the Gospels (both Canonical and non-Canonical) does it say that the "profit motive" is good? In fact, how did the first Christians lived? I may be Christian but I'm not an imbecile. You, Father Barron, are a terrible sheperd.

Free markets do not answer? many economic allocation issues.
By: Dage90. on 05 Apr 12, 16:16:58
Father Robert Barron, I like? everything you do, but I disagree with your assigment of the recent market crash. It was the goverment being too invovled, crony capiltism. I am sure you have heard of the Acton Institue. Fr. Robert Sirico is the founder of it. They know a good amount of ecomonic stuff. Thomas E. Woods wrote a book called "The Church and the Market". He makes very good points about Catholic social teaching and the free market society.
By: xcokenpepsi484. on 04 Apr 12, 18:16:38
"socialism is repugnant to christianity" ? Hardly. Social work calls on people to work together in order for the benefit of all. How is this "repugnant"? Listen to Catholics not in USA, but in Europe, and Africa, and Latin America.? Their message is often different than their American counterparts.
By: licewithrice. on 19 Mar 12, 23:04:48
Oh, and a practicing Catholic. But remember,? "Too much capitalism is not the result of too many capitalist, but too few".

His reply included "I bet I spent less on that watch than you spent on yours". When you say "I spend" regarding something which you own, you bought it for yourself; it is not a gift.? Not that any of this person's minutia holds any relevance to anyone. Regarding your reply, Columbo you are not.

Father. Are you saying England and Canada are repugnent? ? I love your videos but scratch my head sometimes. (and yes, i'm a liberal catholic).
