Check the head position you are swinging around and this has everything to do with your focus? being on the release to the right side of the target for that nice draw; so see"fade and draw shawn clement"(3 parts), "anchor your swing shawn clement", "where to park the head shawn clement" and "throwing the club shawn clement"

Hi Shawn. At 1:54 in this video, your shaft is pointing to around 4 o'clock. I believe I have a problem where at this point my shaft? is always pointing to 3 o'clock. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong ? My bad shots tend to pull or have an unintentional fade. Thanks for all your videos which have really helped my game.

Shawn, u mentioned ur stands being not wider than ur shoulder width, to allow free swing during back and foreward. Would u recommend that for the longer clubs even the driver? Thx again from Taiwan!!?

The relationship is this: The arm club unit tracks it's own arc and the body listens and gets out of the way; some teachers like Jim Hardy have come up with the One Plane-Two plane labelling system which just does not apply in what we teach; each shot has it's own plane needed to achieve results and it is? not your job to find it; your job is to let gravity find it whether it is a 7 iron with ball above or ball below the feet; I hope this helps! Shawn

The relationship is this: The arm? club unit tracks it's own arc and the body listens and gets out of the way; some teachers like Jim Hardy have come up with the One Plane-Two plane labelling system which just does not apply in our world; if I look at his one plane version, I would call it the collapsed version of the golf swing because the arm-club unit collides with the rib-cage and gets diverted around the body...his 2 plane is still a manipulated swing too...this one is free.

Shawn, You swing seems to be very upright. It? goes back initially until the hinge normally enough but then seems to go straight up - like its on a different plane for those 2 movements. Is that correct? Mine feels flatter at the top. Love the clips and the videos.
By: onkai. on 13 Jan 11, 01:55:16
@thefamiliepak well, i guess what shawn showing here is an ''IDEA'' of how and where the arms should? ''BE' during downswing, so to prevent crashing ''INTO'' the body. May be your pro find out '' tucked INTO their body'' work for them, however, what shawn taught here, the ''IDEA" works for me, at least.
By: onkai. on 12 Jan 11, 05:41:15
@thefamiliepak shawn hit his shot so pure? and crisp, his method really works, he fixed my crashing problem , and flushing my shot, gaining yardages as well.
By: wardn53. on 26 Dec 10, 23:54:37
Shawn, so in the down swing I should feel? like I? am coming into the ball from the inside to my left side with pretty much even pressure on the inside of my left foot correct? This would also mean that the ball actually gets hit in a slightly closed shoulder position? Any plans on doing a video like this with the driver? NW
By: clemshaw. on 14 Dec 10, 05:10:42
@thefamiliepak Not quite; the arm-club? unit should not fall INTO the body but IN FRONT of the body; if you tuck into the body, you run out of space and you will either have to come over the top or release too early and spin out; Ernie has a bad habit of spinning out and this is why he needs a weaker grip; Please see my "golf pro lesson elbow close?" and "golf pro lesson arms falling down plane" videos; Shawn

You bet! You need to re-focus on the feel of the action to target without a ball; baseball snap or hammer release from my "Golf Pro lesson feel and let the hammer through" video; then go to the ball and feel the ball and? the turf in front of it are in the way of YOU ALLOWING THE ACTION TO TARGET TO HAPPEN; then observe!!!! Also, you should get on my forum for more options and success stories from other people!

In spite of getting into the rabbit hole and watching your videos on 'focus' daily, my scores recently seem to suggest that I am defaulting to the ball. I have got into the 80s but am back into 90s. I seem to be crossing the traffic signals on red somewhere. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

I love this video. I wish more instruction would include the overhead angle. I have been playing for 5 yrs and have always struggled with my consistency. I discovered this video and some of your others that have really put me? on track. I like when you use analogies like swinging a sledge hammer and using its weight. Seems like that "intent" along with the "action towards the target" makes all the technical things like swing plane, lag etc. just kinda happen. S Clement is the best teacher.
By: MikePedersenGolfTips. on 25 Nov 10, 17:45:42
Love this camera angle Shawn. Would be awesome if you did more, as I? think this angle can help us alot. I also like when you brought your hands down really slowly. So we can really watch things like your hands and wrists coming down. That's really helpful.

Hey Larrybud; yes, of course the body rotation has some to do with squaring of the club, but there is definitely a release of the right over left as in baseball (the different plane is throwing your eyes off) because of the loaded arm unit with hinged wrists releasing through; if you see my "golf pro lesson feel and let the hammer? through" and you try it with the hammer, it will bring your mind around to what I am saying here; you need to "see" with the body too!
By: larrybud. on 05 Nov 10, 23:18:24
I'm sorry, but your right arm does not "cross over" your left arm (as you say at 2:14), and your above view camera shows that it does not. The right arm is in exactly the same relation to the left arm on your back swing as it is in the follow through, it's just that your body? rotation has moved your arms from the right side of your body to the left side of your body.
By: clemshaw. on 29 Oct 10, 13:45:41
To think about any body parts during the swing would be complete sabotage; you can be aware of certain body parts and the way they move? during practice swings; this is OK in the learning process but when the ball is there, it is you, the target, and the feel of that powerful and effortless delivery (feels like a whip or swat or twirl) to that target! Thank you for the question and kind words! Shawn

Great video Shawn. One important aspect of this video which could have been mentioned is the left elbow always pointing down in both the back and thru swing. Jim Ballard mentioned this in one of? his videos. This would prevent one from laying the club off in the backswing and eliminate the chicken wing on the thruswing. Shawn do you feel the left elbow position should be something which we should be focused on anythoughts? Thank You & greatwork
