My freshman year my English professor told the entire class the odds of being rich were slim to none. I felt a little offended because I am going to school for finance, but later realized she was right. When professors say things like that, they are? speaking to the class as a whole. Most people in college aren't going to be millionaires before retirement, and some won't even be able to retire. It takes more than education to become rich, and once you realize that you're on the right track

Unless you're unbelievably naive, you should already know by the time you get to university that you aren't "guaranteed" a successful job after you graduate (even if you're pursuing grad school etc.). Going to university simply INCREASES the probability? that you'll get what you want but doesn't guarantee you anything except a piece of paper, if your academics go well.

A lot of teachers in Asia are like Jayar's professor, if students do too well, they think themselves are being lazy. So in another? word a hard working teacher should exhaust their student to the verge of death no matter what in order to make themselves feel good. Sounds kind of sick to me.

I'm a management student in Canada and in my faculty the average has to be between 65 and 75 so teachers do it on purpose to make hard tests. If the average is too low, they curve up the marks and vice versa for high averages. It kind of? sucks because we are the top University in Canada, so students students there that were used to having good grades in high school, see really low grades because they are averaged among students that perform very well academically.
