Ball position is one of the most important elements to hitting with a driver versus an iron. However, as Andrew demonstrates, there's an important change you must make in posture when taking your set-up to avoid slicing the ball.

I hit my irons relatively straight, but I always without a doubt, completely slice my driver to the right, way way right. I took upon this advice, and it has almost diminished my slice completely. It is amazing, and it does make perfect sense. If you also look up shawn clement on youtube, you will notice he also uses the same posture. Shawn is great as well, he just? never focused on the posture of hitting a driver like this video did. Fantastic advice, my driver slice is cured, thank you so much

@stevenparrgolf is? the ball going straight? Well then it's probably not a slice. Even if it was, I'd take a straight "slice" any day.

Excellent tip but there's an instance where a crucial weight shift must occur, what's the best way to find the balance between staying? behind the ball and getting the weight off the left side (for a right handed player)? Thanks very much!

ya know, ive seen a lot of beginners at the range and ALL of them tend to actually lean back; presumably trying to? help the ball up.

This worked for me, had a round? today and hit some great straight drives, pulled a couple but, NO SLICES !

I hit all of my clubs dead straight except my driver which i used to have a very bad slice with, your points helped me straighten my driver so now i hit all my clubs straight, my set up was completely wrong for my driver it had nothing to do with my swing path as i only had the slice with driver, thanks for your help. stevenparrgolf1 missed the point of the lesson,? glad stevenparrgolf1 is not coaching me as he would not have even been able to figure out the cause of my slice, mr genius haha

hey stevenparrgolf1...why dont you give us your fix to a? slice mr genius?
By: stevenparrgolf1. on 06 Nov 10, 19:39:13
This is some of the worst instruction I have ever heard or seen. Typically a slicer hits an Out to In swing path causing them to cut across the ball to target line? with an open clubface. Making weight fall behind the ball like this will encourage the club to travel more along the Out to In path, this will not help the slicers problems (FACT). It may however encourage a pull which is why some of these guys below think their shots have changed. Not impressed!!!

I tried this technique at the range yesterday and I hit some of the best drives I've ever hit. On top of that, there were only 2 that went to the right. Can't wait to try this out on the course. Thanks for? the tip

I believe this tip is a primary factor in helping to get a better drive, as I myself do? not lean back and conclude that is why my drive's are sliced. Thanks alot

Unbelievable. I have been horribly slicing my driver on almost every shot for the last three years, and after watching this video and a few? minutes at the driving range it is now fixed. I can't believe my driver problems were so simple to fix. Thank you for giving me the confidence to use my driver again.

This Video is so clear....i thinks he points? out the primary sympton to most of us slicers out here.
By: huonvalley. on 30 Sep 10, 08:48:08
thanks this helps me heaps.?
By: jerry5a1. on 07 Sep 10, 07:47:07
is this tip only for the driver, or do you want? to keep your spine tilted away with all clubs to prevent a slice?
By: slowore. on 06 Sep 10, 06:02:03
Look at my turnnn? *fancy voice*
By: WSLYH. on 03 Sep 10, 00:02:24
besides using this basic golf? technique, you might consider a driver that has an offset like your irons. if you slice the driver of the tee and can hit a good 2 thru 4 iron look at the face offset of the irons and this is possibly the reason you can't consistently hit the driver in the fairway....jus a thought.

I work at a golf course, and the pro's keep trying to tell me how to fix my slice threw hand grips and swing.? But today one of my buddies said it was my follow through. This video was incredible, i htink i finally have figured out the slice. i can't wait to try this tomorrow! Thanks a lot.
