open your? ears dumbass...both COST THE SAME
By: ColdNapalm42. on 20 May 12, 07:04:53
Umm...no it isn't. I already posted this...but if you need the fully loaded RA, then you need the fully loaded STI since your obviously looking for a car with leather and nav and moonroof to be looking at the fully loaded RA. If your okay with the base STI, then your okay with the base EVO GSR. So there is ZERO reason to ever compare the STI to a RA other your a rabid? moronic subbie dfanboi.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 19 May 12, 04:03:55
Because they are morons who want the subbies to look better...despite the fact that stock WRX really does kick the living snot of the stock RA (and yes? I own a RA and a mitsu fan). Basically they went for the overkill and just made themselves look stupid.
By: rx7chad. on 14 May 12, 07:15:04
the STI has bluetooth. Come on. And that's your "go to" reasoning for calling one just as good as the other? Does it have a dual clutch SST? No, it has a bulletproof six speed that doesn't over heat after a lap? around the track. Why not compare it to a loaded WRX, you know, the car people would actually cross shop it against?

Evolution X ---- eks?

In anycase, I did orginally say that the WRX was the better car hand down stock right? I don't agree? that both are good choices however. I think that the WRX is hand down the superior choice if your gonna leave your car stock or do some light modifications. The RA is the better choice for moderate modifications and both are horrible if your looking to make sub 10 second cars (starts with an EVO or STI if that is your goal...or better yet a 5.0 mustang).

Do you have any idea how? easy it is to get that 0% at a young age? Did you graduate from college? You get it then. I got my first new mitsu out of college and got the 0% intrest deal with no credit because I graduated from college. In the military? Yep you get that too. Under 21 and over 18 and starting a career? They have a new credit program for that as well. Basically if you didn't F up your credit, you can get it. Mitsu is kinda desperate..which I realize is a bad mark for one.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 22:42:30
Typo: should? be FICO score.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 22:34:44
Plus your 3k more base price to start. 28k+2k=30K. WRX is 25K, add even 4k in mods and WRX runs 12's for less. Most people in the age range for a RA don't have a 750+ FICA score and will not? qualify for the 0% rate. My orig comment was the RA is overpriced and I still believe it is. Sell RA for 25k with a manual option, then you have something. Both can be modded and both can run 12's, it's the base price that gives the WRX the initial bang for the buck edge. But both are a good choice, though.

The AMS IC is overkill on the RA's stock turbo or even the RAD turbo and so wasted money. Same deal with the UR piping as the EVO one works? just as well at lower costs..,.that is more for show then go. The BoV once again does nothing. The BCS does nothing that a boostpill doesn't do until turbo upgrade. The injector, fuel pump and sparks are to run e85. So take the e85 out, which is a solid 2/10ths and dont waste money and look, a 2 grand 12s car.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 20:13:11
Found this on evolutionm forum, an experienced racer, ran 12.7 in his 11? RA with these mods: AMS Evo X FMIC, UR intercooler piping, Cobb intake, Tial QR BOV, Grimmspeed BCS, DW 1000cc injectors E85, 255 lph fuel pump, UR downpipe, UR test pipe, DC Sports cat-back, Evo X spark plugs. That's a bit more than 2k. Just saying.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 19:28:29
Also remember RA starts 3k more than a wrx unles you can qualify for the 0% finance, which most can't. So even if the aftermarket parts = more dollars in the end wrx is? still cheaper. We can go on all day about this. I like both cars, just prefer the wrx after having both.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 19:23:45
Oh forgot intake another 250.? So yes it's more than an RA.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 19:22:33
Magnaflow catback 600, up-pipe 210, downpipe 360, FMIC 800, pipes 300, tune 80. Ok so about 2300-2400. A bit more than the RA yes, your right on that.? Dyno was a Mustang dyno.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 19:15:09
Cobb is a weak tune. I have a Torqued Performance tune. 30whp gain. Dyno to prove it. The 09 RA which is what I know, had the same base suspension as the lancer gts. The 11 wrx out of the box is better and can go just as big on the sways. RA has to add new rims and tires just to come close to the wider stance? and 235's stock on wrx. More $ to equal wrx.I can run 245's is needed. How about the RA tranny over heating issue when adding real power. WRX, tranny has no probs pushing 400-500hp.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 06 May 12, 19:13:47
Lets break that down going with low end pice point. Cat back, 750. HFC 300. Downpipe 300. IC 800.? IC pipes 400. Intake 100. That breaks your 2 grand BEFORE your stage 2 or 3 tune job. Yes a stage 3 with everythin you mentioned will get you in 12s...but that is 4 grand. The RA, evox FMIC and pipes 500, TB UR exhaust 1200, intake 100 and GST free tune and you have UNDER 2 grand of mods that gets you 12s. What dyn gave you a 30 WHP read from a tune jobe? Dynojet I am guessing.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 18:58:11
Unless you've owned both like I have, your just guessing. I know for fact, about 2k. Exhaust, intake, up-pipe, down-pipe, FMIC, stage2 or 3 = about $2100. Gets you 12's easy. 4/10 because of tune and launch control, but who cares if LC helped, you get that for $300. Got 30whp, not at the crank. Dyno proved it. Stock wrx runs 13.5-13.7, with? 2k your in the 12's. Fact. Not sure what subi hater told you 2/10, but that's simply wrong. RA runs 14.3 stock. WRX can shave 1.5sec just like RA can.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 06 May 12, 18:18:26
And 2 grand for a 12 second WRX...oh please. The WRX stock exhaust system is good enough that even the top of the line invidia system only adds like 10 WHP for a full TB system. And your shaving off 4/10 not because of? the tune but because of launch control (obviously you suck at launching for it to shave that much time off). 30 HP != 4/10s. Assuming you get a full 30 WHP, your looking at 2/10s...maybe. Which is about what 2 grand gets you in an WRX.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 06 May 12, 18:08:49
BS. Cobb's stage one tune adverts that you can gain 30 HP (which is at crank), but honestly almost everyone gains 20...which means 15 WHP. Unless you live in the dessert because the cobb tune is quite good for dealing with heat power loss. If you do a tune more aggressive then that on stock everything, your no longer running safe tunes. And bigger sway bars? TOTAL BS. RA can get 26/24 before going custom...the WRX is 24/22. The wider tires and? stance is negated once you replace tires/rims
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 12:00:13
I owned a 09 RA, & now 11 WRX. First hand experience. RA costs 27995, with $500 off or 0%. With the 0% in the end you pay about the same, if not, WRX is a lot cheaper. RA gets a "huge" jump from a tune because it's so de-tuned. RA guys try to say wrx only gains small amounts, that is a myth. I gained 30hp & 4/10th with only a stage? 1 tune and launch control for $300, all else stock. WRX can run12's too for 2k. 11 wrx is 1.5" wider, bigger sways, etc, RA with mods wont out handle wrx with mods.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 06 May 12, 07:25:30
Except that when you factor in mitsu's factory deals, the WRX and RA generally come out on even footing. And when you tune them, the RA gets a HUGE jump while the WRX does not. In fact, with about 2 grand in mods and a tune, the RA can run 12s while the same mods only shaves like 2/10th off on a WRX. The WRX handles better stock, but the RA once? again wins ones you starts to modify. RA is better for tuning and modification...WRX wins hands down stock.
By: pc2k09. on 06 May 12, 02:29:40
Ralliart is overpriced. It has the same? interior and suspension as the lancer GT minus the awd which is from the evo 9. As for leather, too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Navigation, just get a droid smart phone or a tom-tom. Factory nav is overpriced. Dual clutch setup, no way. Real drivers drive real manuals. No third pedal doesn't cut it. The better buy is a base 2011+ WRX. You can get one for $25,000, run mid 13's stock, save 3k-8k and blow the doors off a ralliart.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 01 May 12, 06:17:01
Edmunds consistently has slow times...not JUST the STI. C&D has a much closer to times that good drivers should be getting (13.9...which is? still a bit high). I see stock STI hit 13s on damp tracks all the time. Yes BARELY13s...but 13s still. 14.3 is your plain old bad. If your can't get an STI in the 13s consistently...then yes you are in fact not very good at drag racing. Not saying that I can do it (because I can't, drag isn't my sport of choice), just saying what actual good drivers do
By: 9dewittk. on 01 May 12, 02:50:12
14.3 isn't MY standard 1/4 mile time in my STI. I was merely trying to say that it certainly can be for most test drivers. The STI can be a tricky car to launch with perfection especially for anyone who isn't used to the STI's clutch and notchy gear box. For example: Inside line tested the 2011 STI and got a 0-60 time of 5.5.? However, after putting 12,000 miles into mine I can pull a 4.9 0-60 time. As for a 1/4 mile I can hit 13s IF road conditions are right.
By: ColdNapalm42. on 30 Apr 12, 23:51:27
If your standard 1/4 mile in an STI is 14.3, you suck sir. You should be able to hit 13s with a stock STI. A RA with a few grand? in mods (less then your bare bone STI) can run 12s. If that is what your after. Not that these cars are really meanth for the strip. You really should get other cars to build for that if that is what you want.
