Used to play a neutral grip, friends talked me into a strong lt hand. Have been chickenwinging ever since. I couldn't figure out how to stop the "winging" until I just watched your video. Next? trip to the range I will go back to my neutral grip and hope I stop the wing. Thanks

the flip is fine, but the flip has to happen after the ball has been struck,? preferably with a forward leaning shaft and shallow angle of attack. this isn't advocating a flip before impact that adds loft and never gets the center of the face to the ball unless it's perched up, it's advocating the way to freewheel and potentially add speed through impact. take a look at fred couples' hands through impact and then try to convince yourself he is not doing what hawk is saying. you can't.

Notice the comments about flipping. By the time you flip, don't you feel that the ball is already gone off the face and the actual finish of the release is unimportant? It seems that the important part of your? advice is in the compression of the ball toward the target. Am I correct?

you know 3 different players have won pga events playing cross handed but i dont teach that, so many ways will work i teach what i think is the strongest grip even for the weakest players, natural grip with hands facing palm to palm and palm of right one facing target back of left one facing target, tigers grip by the way, i feel this allows for a free releasing of the clubhead and helps the body stay level? through the shot although i may not agree with you all i love you your friend hitmanhawky

read my post here yes i flip it and glad i do know when and how much to flip it read the answers i give in post previous to this and it says it all on how i feel if you dont agree its ok with me but i back up what i say with basic facts. do you flip the club for a flop shot? a little less flip a little less flop, if you want to flop it flip it you want it low dont flip through the hitting area , so common sense says knowing how? and when to flip helps control trajectory and spin ...

Hawky, I just looked at your? swing in your other video. Why do you advocate that fundamentally 'unsound' flip release when you don't do that in your own golf swing? C'mon, man, don't just make stuff up to be different. You might FEEL like you flip it through impact, but, you don't. I'm surprised you'd encourage your students to work on such a destructive (to good golf shots) technique. Just my opinion.

Hitman, I'm sorry, but the best ball strikers in the world, past and present, do NOT have the post impact wrist action you demonstrate / describe. I agree they have an arched? left wrist and forward leaning shaft at / through impact, but neither Nicklaus nor Woods, whom you cited as examples, have your look post impact.

you are axactly right ,maybe i should say what i think is the proper grip, anyway this is a grip i feel is the strongest for even the weakness player, because it allows the hands to release naturally. and i feel this grip will be more consistent in ball striking then any other ive seen, and this is the grip tiger uses and jack used and i use so i know this grip? very well, yes many have won with different, steve stricker had a nice artical on this grip last golf digest. hitmanhawky

anytime someone says the "proper" grip I cringe. besides that events have been won with neutral, strong, weak, interlock, double interlock (Furyk), baseball, overlap, "intermesh" (Norman), crosshanded, and not to mention short fingers, long and the like. Hogan gripped it in the fingerTIPS, Nicklaus in the fingers, and others in the palm. ? That being said, if you look at how a swordsman grips a weapon, you will find true strength, leverage and accuracy. Good presentation though.

it could be called uncocking the club instead of flipping i uncock it , i load my wrist angle and when i uncok it looks and is a flipping of the clubhead , body must turn arms arms must move hands working together and well timed it can produce solid shots. swing should work from ground up.sorry mike if i talked your ear off thanks for the comment ill try to do a video on this to give better understanding of my thoughts thanks? buddy hitmanhawky
By: hitmanhawky. on 23 Jan 11, 20:06:41
yep i flip, the key is? when you flip it and how much you flip, controls spin and trajectory, golf clubhead is like a hammer head and if you nail a nail you do better flipping the hammer head down on the nail, want to hit it low dont release the wrist ( supination ) of left wrist through impact , want to hit it high ( pronate the left wrist through impact how much and when determines how high and how much spin, the best to ever play flipped it, video coming to explain better thanks hitmanhawky ty
By: MikePedersenGolfTips. on 23 Jan 11, 19:30:55
It seems you are promoting a flipping of the hands through impact instead of the body pivot releasing the club. An independent move with the hands and wrists. Is this correct? Obviously there? are a hundred ways to hit a golf ball.

Can't believe the amount of negative comments - Great vid hitmanhawky, I'll definately use this next time I'm on the range - I have either a terrible slice or a nasty pull :/ Can't find the PGA? Teaching Manual anywhere either..

Jim, i don't think iv'e ever seen Tigers right hand go UNDER his left, only his right going OVER the left. This releasing action you mentioned makes the ball go to the right. This (right hand to the sky) move is a? slicers/hackers action. Any feedback would be good, thanks. Martin.

Great stuff! Love the book drill, it really shows the? squaring up of the club face. Many thanks for this video.
By: jocotube. on 23 May 10, 00:27:14
hi hawk, i really appreciate that you're sharing this drill/tip about "release". couple of questions sir, a. what's the power ratio of left and right hand for each 3? swing motion and the release? is it 90/10 for all? b. can this be applied to driver and hybrid clubs as well? c. how can i master the "ball bouncing on the club" drill? i think this drill helps to be consistent on hitting the sweet spot. thanks in advance.
By: maryb460. on 15 May 10, 18:22:18
Thanks for all your great instruction, it's the best advice I've ever gotten. One thing? I'm having trouble with is pulling my left arm up at impact and not extending at impact is there a drill you would recommend? Thanks

hey I have sent a video message to you. In the vid i'm the blue dude. I was wondering why my shots have the tendancy to hook sometimes, Im sure it's hook and not draw tho. Also how can I make my shots more consistent at this time I shoot (on average) 10 yards left or right of the target I have. Length is not a problem for me, it's mostly the aim or? hooking the shot. I don't have any other problems. I hope you can help, thanks!
