Shawn: Last year I got into the Stack and Tilt and it did not help my game. It caused me? to reduce my shoulder turn and get too flat on the back swing as they teach that the shaft should bi-sect the right upper arm (right handed player). I have some reduced mobility in my left hip. What can help to get a better turn? Is lifting the left heel OK ? Thanks

First, a couple of videos for you as this is a very important subject; "golf pro lesson takeaway and starting the swing" as? well as part 2 and 3; also, my new video called "golf pro lesson tomahawk the club!" has a nice addition to the takeaway; please post this issue on my forum as well as we will have a great discussion with it!
By: clemshaw. on 12 Dec 10, 13:51:59
Be careful with this; please? see "golf pro lesson distance to ball part 2" and "golf pro lesson ridiculously easy" part 1 and 2, "golf pro lesson how to focus" part 1 and 2; and check out my forum which has been a great resource for issues like this; Shawn

Very simple! He is trying to hit the ball and is not swinging to his target! See "golf pro lesson ridiculously easy!" part 1 and 2 as well as "golf pro lesson fishing and golf";? Shawn

i have trouble in take-away i get wristy and get steep on the way back,? controlling my swing with my chest and keeping arms infront should help me?
By: hooptime. on 04 Jun 10, 04:34:53
Shawn, It seems body type has an effect on keeping the arms in front of the body and distance standing from the ball. I am 5-9, 205, pretty strong, and was a football and track athlete in college. It? seems that to keep my arms in front of my body I have to stand a little farther from the ball to free up my arms or else I get jammed up. When I get jammed up I believe I am coming over the top causing slices and pull hooks. Would that be correct to stand a little further from the ball.

i have a problem w/ a pupil. He's got a neutral grip but in the transition he shuts the clubface promoting a ton of problems in the downswing and at impact. what are the best drills to help him to keep the club face? square through the swing and to make it his?

Now that you have seen both sides? of the coin, it is time to give the control away to gravity and centrifugal force; see "golf pro lesson timing and tempo update" and "golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill" then use the "golf pro lesson tilted spiral" part 1, 2 and 3 to bring your expansive swing together around a steady tilted axis; Shawn

hey man wonderful wonderful stuff. i love this game i just started playing about 2 years ago. It seems like my swing is forever changing and it gets really frustrating. i used to slice the ball really really bad. i worked on my grip and swinging more inside out and after one year shot the best round of my life at an 82 on a very hard golf course. now as you may of guest i hook the ball really bad. i am having trouble getting my club? face square to the ball at impact......and ideas thanks jon
By: clemshaw. on 27 Jul 09, 12:29:05
No Problem; what you need to understand is that the arms should already be tracking gravity and the body already in the process of getting out of the way; see "golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill" and "golf pro lesson timing and? tempo update"; Thanks for the great comment! Shawn

Just one question. I was loosing my rhythm when I knew I had a score going so my swing on the last few holes wasn't as good, do you do the take away first then turn? I found I was picking the club up too early while also turning too early to the position you showed on your vid. Thanks again for your great tips,? this video is probably the best I've seen.
By: clemshaw. on 27 Jul 09, 01:25:29
Thanks for the question! You will have your answers in the "Golf Pro lesson one leg swing" and the "Golf Pro lesson uphill, downhill, sidehill" with the emphasis on the downhill shot which will get you the right feel on the brace; then see "golf pro lesson ball bearings and sockets"? and "downswing weightshift" to set it up; my DVD would be an asset too of course! :) Shawn

Hey Shawn, really enjoy all of your videos! I still feel like I don't really stack up well on my left leg at the end of? the swing. My right foot swings out down the line a lot and I don't get that tall firm leg look like I see you and a lot of pros get. Can it be because I'm a heavier guy? Any stretches I can do to fix this? How is the left hip/grown/thigh supposed to feel at the end of the swing? Are you pulling up into the hip? thanks!

hey lhsgolf; sorry I did not catch you earlier! The video you want to watch is the "Golf pro lesson weak grip or strong grip?" where you will see the difference in body? language between someone who has an open face coming into impact vs a closed face; it is night and day and will shed much light! Shawn

Hello there Shawn, I need? some help. I make a solid backswing, but on the way down, I get the club moving too much inside. The blade is wide open, and my misses are held off thin shots, typically wiped and move right. I have worked on trying to release the club earlier, however I feel as though I simply release the club harder after impact. Do you have any comments on have to fix this ailment. Thanks for the videos, and Happy New Year.

Hey Bukemdano! Thanks for the great comments and question! What Hogan felt and what he perceived may have been misinterpreted by him as he was not a teacher by trade; then the can of worms opens even more when other teachers try to interpret what he did and say he did; this is why a fundamental understanding of the human body's anatomy is imperative to dispel the myths from fact; first question is how do the arms hang from your body and how will? gravity affect them during the swing?
