That could? be the magic move I've been looking for to get some lateral hip movement toward the target and get my arc to bottom out just in front of the ball. Brilliant Shawn

Gonna try this training drill great tip on understanding this concept. I do this well 30% of the time. really not fully aware of opening hip turn first. Think I can learn this in two buckets thanks to you. I think at the? top of the back swing if I weight transfer to the inside left first my right hip will turn faster and allow left hip Socket to become the leverage of the shot and my hips should open a fraction of a second faster. Does that sound right to you.
By: h0ss66. on 09 Jan 12, 14:21:37
Shawn, once again awesome stuff. I finally figured out (with the help of my pro) that I was spinning out drastically because my hips were driving way to fast while my arms stayed behind. This opened up my shoulders at impact, huge slices or flippy pull hooks. Although I've watched this video multiple times, it finally clicked. Thinking "fast arms falling" helped me tremendously. Now I can use the arms to create speed and the hips to create leverage at? impact. My SS jumped at least 10mph!

Your ideas about arm falling in front while the body turns are very effective. At 3:41 that's a "Moe Normanish" kind of action to me! Btw I think there's another effective procedure for the downswing. The point is that we imagine that the body starts unwinding hard from the top along with the arms. This way the torso has to stop and stall at - or ever before - impact, in order to allow the hands and arm to be released.? What if we start the downswing with "pivot stall" + arm falling?
By: fingersmcoy. on 11 Oct 11, 17:06:00
ok, I didn't watch all of your video. I see that maybe I am? letting my arms fall behind my body.
By: fingersmcoy. on 11 Oct 11, 17:02:50
I can do all this, but for some reason, I can't square the clubface. I am always holding the face open. Can't seem to stop, even though I know I? am doing it!!
By: CosmicSPC. on 24 Aug 11, 20:21:14
Hi, very interesting is? the position in 3:40 where hands are much more in front of the body than they were at address position.. how to continue from this position to meet the ball correctly? to get in front is quite easy. but what to do after that? thnx fof help!
By: evaneezy. on 20 Jul 11, 03:21:58
thanks shawn now that the club is in front me the? club clears easily and I can create more speed...
By: MrLuigiFercotti. on 14 Jul 11, 04:33:12
I had to go at it the other way around, I had re-train the hips to clear and stay back in order to make room for the? arms.

hey shawn, I had a real quick question about the "Plant fall", "Plant Fall"...i watched your tempo and timing videos and i? was confused with when i plant the left foot in relation to the arms falling. My understanding is i plant the left foot first then let the arms fall .Is that correct? or the arms fall and the plant happens as a results of the arms falling? Thanks !!

For the record Shawn should have won that Golf Channel contest.. but Who would want people? to actually get better. Heaven forbid Golf Channel risks people to stop watching because people actually learn the game.. but hey Martin Hall and Micheal Brees are RRRRRRUBISH!! Love you Shawn!!

When i try to "let go" and become target oriented.. it seems to eccentuate my faults.so i really have a hard time giving up control of my swing.. I have a coach that i see and he teaches me body hit and to let go. i try to learn my self and have him help with ideas and questions i have..im low 80's for only 18 to 27 holes /week. ik im? much better. 74 is my best.. ive been hammering my putting so maybe im just being lame about it all???
By: TAMMYWISEMAN. on 23 May 11, 22:24:41
Its is a bit better. but reading your comments here, To achieve the goals? i have set.. I have to cure the cancer of OTT Early Release etc.. No matter how much i try i cannot comprehend starting my downswing "ground up" i cant get the kinetics of an independent lower body..Ive tried to fix an inside takeaway but its against my natural feel.. I just cant get myself to have a body hit.. i dont see how it has power.. so im set in my doxy of dowswinging with my arms..
By: emncaity. on 23 May 11, 19:42:45
Did it get better??
By: emncaity. on 23 May 11, 19:42:17
Also, it is observable in several great players that there is a slight rearward fall of the club and arms. I've just seen too many people who try to apply the "in front of" thing end up like "tammywiseman" (above), getting too steep, outside, and over the top. Also, while it's true that crowding the swing with a too-inside move on the backswing can cause an over-the-top move to compensate,? it's also true that players get OTT by being too rotary and/or torso-and-hip-oriented.
By: emncaity. on 23 May 11, 19:39:24
I do object somewhat to the popular "in front" theory of the last 20 years or so. Factually, the arms and club do move across the torso and to the side of it in the backswing, if the reference point is the turned torso; or, if you prefer, the club is definitely behind the head and neck. I've seen amateurs tie themselves in knots trying to keep the club? in line with the middle of the "front" of the torso, as if they were supposed to fight the natural swinging motion of the arms and club.
By: emncaity. on 23 May 11, 19:37:21
For more on "stone-skipping," check Faldo's "Tips & Drills" vid. Also, check H. Penick's "magic move" and his slow-mo drill for it--shifting gently to the lead side while moving the arms and club partway down, slowly, with no spinning of the shoulders (the shoulders only responding). The "push" an assist to momentum is so, so right. What happens when you try to apply? power too suddenly, extremely, or violently, outside the bounds of a swinging motion, when you're pushing somebody on a swing?
