Shotgun impacts in slow motion - The Slow Mo Guys

Video duration: 126 seconds
Global video hits: 1130557
PULL! A Slow Mo Guys subscriber wanted to see some slow motion clay pigeon shooting. Gav and Dan would probably be pretty shoddy at the task, so enlisted the help of Barry the farmer and his shotgun. It's amazing to see the spread of the lead shot, and the speed that it moves even in slow motion! Naturally, we also destroyed some perfectly good fruit.

Shawn, Thanks for this tip. I have a greater understanding of the importance of the grip and how the left and right hands leverage against themselves. That should help me make more solid contact with the ball. The hockey analogy was especially illustrative. I do have a question, does you tip have some connection to Ben Hogan's supination remarks in his book? I bought your video last year and? it's quite useful. Rob

What shold be my conscious thoughts during the golf swing? I mean what should i really think about and what things should? I just let happen so to speak? I fell like there's so many things I need to think about and I can't execute properly sometimes.

Shawn, you have a natural ability to making things crystal clear. The way you relate them with everyday things or activities in such a way that people can understand them is uncanny. As a football coach and teacher I can appreciate that. The fact that they put guys like Hank Haney on TV instead of you is a travesty. Your teaching ability is far superior to those Golf Channel guys. The mental images you have provided me has made a huge difference in my ball striking. Thanks for the? free lesson.

hey shawn, I had a real quick question? about the "Plant fall", "Plant Fall"...i watched your tempo and timing videos and i was confused with when i plant the left foot in relation to the arms falling. My understanding is i plant the left foot first then let the arms fall .Is that correct? or the arms fall and the plant happens as a results of the arms falling? Thanks !!
By: msendowski. on 16 May 11, 07:05:28
Shawn, I enjoy your video but I am confused with this one. Are you saying at impact or after impact, you should push the club handle with your right hand or palm and pull with your left palm or wrist to gain club head speed? I don't think you are saying that,? but the push pull description that occurs with the hands in hockey would seem to indicate that as being the case. Thanks .

Hi Shawn. Seen all your grip vids but my grip does not look? like yours.

I am sure I have seen you in the cartoon movie "megamind'!! I swear...lol. thanks again for sharing. Any tips on how long I should? be maintaining the angle of wrist cock before releasing or 'casting' towards the target?

Hey Mike! Yes, get yourself a set of irons with Dynamic Gold S-300 shafts which are the heaviest shafts on the market as well as the liveliest; you want a shaft that is easy to load and nice and heavy to feel it tracking in the? swing; Shawn
By: clemshaw. on 06 Feb 11, 00:55:36
Very easy to fix that!! Please go see my video called "Ridiculously easy; Shawn Clement" part 1 and 2; you will see how you are already wired for success!! Then see "How to focus part 1? and 2; Shawn Clement" Shawn

Hello Shawn, feeling the golf club unit or the lead slug that you pictured made me think of how light my clubs feel. What are your thoughts on the swingweight of a club. Is this even important? I still lift a lot of? weights, and must admit that my golf irons feel really light. thanks, Mike in Memphis
By: Weresmarterthen. on 01 Feb 11, 19:08:04
Thank you Shawn. This really helps hold all of the motions together, in? BALANCE. :)
By: jlnewma7. on 01 Feb 11, 02:49:40
You say to let the? weight of the club fall at the top of the backswing; for me, this increases my wristcock and allows my wrists to feel very loose and relaxed. Is this what I should feel and what you mean by some golfers feeling like they're "losing control" of the club? I always thought I was "crashing" when I let my arm/club unit relax in this manner during my transition.

Great advice at? 5:42 on left wrist....for all the flippers out there
By: clemshaw. on 29 Jan 11, 12:50:15
Cold here too! LOL; at least you can play out there! Yes, sounds to me like the grip is suffering; if you are getting a rub spot on the lower thumb, then your bottom hand does not have a trigger finger formed to hook against the club;? see my "Grip 2 Wrist Hinge" video and as a matter of fact, you should get my DVD series; I use 2 cameras in it and the details are a bit better in the DVD; plus all the other info is in priority sequence for you; Shawn

Great? analogies ... thanks for teaching.
By: grantbolton. on 27 Jan 11, 19:38:56
p.s. I got a new pair of golf gloves at xmas (a pair, cause its cold? in Scotland!) and I noticed that i've already worn through both the thumb 'pads'. (I have been hitting the range pretty often). Any thoughts on why my grip is doing this?, I've tweaked it with your grip video already and feel like its correct..
By: grantbolton. on 27 Jan 11, 19:34:39
Makes so much sense thanks Shawn. I've been a bit obsessed last few days watching your videos, went to the range today and hit it great. I was concentrating hard on 'tossing the club back', even visualising which glass door behind me i was trying to throw it through ha,? and consciously keeping my focus on my target through my 'blurry' ball impact. I was catching it pure and hitting it miles effortlessly. Even experimenting with draws and fades which I've never managed consistently before!
