The summit plateau can be a bit disorientating, so take a compass! I was lucky, it was dry as a bone, so if you can't get across the peat you could just about get away with sprinting across on your toes! Then along the river to Howgill and straight up past the stone aquaduct onto the fell top. Then follow the classic route via Simon's Seat and Lord's seat down to Starbottom and into Trollers Gill by Parceval Hall. From there, up to the old mines then cut across Appletreewick pasture back to the Craven arms....The route is about 10K and very nice. another nice ... Park Fell and down Whernside turned out to be tough on the achilles, but its all experience. Clive hardly broke a sweat all day, I wish I could say the same but I'm getting fitter every month.
