Funny that John Wayne's Rooster Cogburn wasn't even FAT, so it wasn't much of? an insult...
By: twitchyisawesome. on 19 May 12, 11:58:38
Oh yeah?? Well, that's just like, your opinion, man!
By: mariesoy1. on 12 May 12, 01:29:39
John Wayne all the way.?

@Falewick that sums up rooster so well,? nicely put XD

I can't believe Wayne won an oscar for this one. Bridges becomes an unbelieveable, always-drunk barrel of badassery? and filth for this role. Respect.

That would have been? hilarious.
By: sidewinder2132. on 02 Apr 12, 06:25:46
Arguably one? of the best lines in western history.

One Winchester has the capacity of two or three revolvers (although they did make 12-shot revolvers) and greater range but blasting away with two big pistols looks? more impressive.

To all you out there that say the original True Grit is better, I hope you all know you're referring to Portis' novel, not? the '69 film. The 1969 version, the so called 'original' is just an adaptation of the book; Henry Hathaway's/Paramount's interpretation. The 2010 film, the "remake", is exactly the same, albeit Joel and Ethan Coen's interpretation of the book.

Why didn't rooster just stand on the edge and rifle with his Winchester? Those navys are terribly inaccurate? :L

As much as I like Jeff Bridges, he did not do the character or John Wayne any justice with his version. I? honestly think Tommy Lee Jones would have been a better Rooster Cogburn in the remake.

John Wayne sucked in this one.? He thought so himself.
By: benjameshodges. on 21 Feb 12, 23:57:06
John Wayne: "Fill your hands, you son? of a bitch!" Jeff Bridges: "Feel yawh hat, you somma bit!"

Visually, the 2010 version rocks. But when it? comes to delivery of that line, Wayne nailed it way better than Bridges.
By: ryanmacdaddy1000. on 20 Feb 12, 15:22:12
and they did not, I repeat did NOT, remake it. the only thing? its remaking is the BOOK.
By: ryanmacdaddy1000. on 20 Feb 12, 15:20:33
nope. the book is much better than? the John Wayne movie
By: ryanmacdaddy1000. on 17 Feb 12, 17:50:15
the original would have been better if both glenn campbell and kim darby? didn't play in it
By: hakaufma1. on 13 Feb 12, 23:44:47
This has got to be the best line for both the 2010 & 1969 versions. U can get an idea of how the western genre has evolved thru this. There's a new western premiering in NY called Good for Nothing that's bound to bring something new? to the genre. The director, Mike Wallis, was 1 of Peter Jackson's protégés & the cinematography in "Good for Nothing" is just wild. There's a dry humor that's unique to this film.Satirical without losing it's rough edge. youtube .com/watch?v=gRYZNCVeZDY

The? original True Grit was so much better than the new one. The originals always win out.
By: Boredclub2ndgen. on 06 Feb 12, 03:03:40
I think Jeff Bridges? delivered the line MUUUUUUUCH better than John Wayne.
By: sadbutsandman91. on 01 Feb 12, 21:41:48
Dude, you should? have wrote the script

When the guy does the chicken crow? before the fight Pepper should have turned and said "Shut the fuck up, Donny!"
By: joshpuh2010. on 25 Jan 12, 20:53:39
John wayne reacted to being called a one eyed fat man and responded. I feel like? Jeff Bridges response was too forced just trying to get the line out
By: kurtemeigh. on 23 Jan 12, 22:58:27
Never read the book, but if the book? is more like the new film than this is one case where the film, the John Wayne film, is better than the book.
