Shawn, you're the best, I wish you got the Golf Channel slot, but then we'd probably not have the great segments on YouTube so frequently!! I was wondering if you have a video amongst your lengthy library of how to put/use backspin on approach shots. If not, do you have a recommendation for me to look up? Thanks in advance and? also because of you and a LOT of practice, I've gone from a 35 to an 18 handicap in just under a year. My goal is sub-15 and the AM Tour by Golf Channel.

Thanks for the reply, i only joined the site last week, all i? know is that he updated his site last week so something must have gone wrong since then.

Dude; when you play, you are focused on a target and swing to a target, when you go to the range, you start thinking of the swing and the focus then wanes from the target and starts defaulting to the ball; when you release to the ball instead of releasing out to a target, EVERYTHING CHANGES!!! See "ridiculously easy golf shawn clement" "pure strike part 1 and 2 shawn..." and? keep a nice steady center with "visual reference to tilt shawn" Shawn
By: pouyanmoabed. on 08 May 12, 20:50:23
Why is it when i go to the range I can hit about 20 straight down the pipe with a slight fade, then i start shanking everything and completely lost my swing. It takes me a week of no playing to feel normal again. then if i skip the range and just? play i never shank. I'm lost?
By: clemshaw. on 04 May 12, 18:30:20
Not one bit Mike; as soon as you are ready to work the ball, you are ready for this; I get my beginners working the draw and fade in the 3 rd or 4th lesson as this is part of the whole deal of playing? golf. As soon as they try to hit the ball straight, they can't release the club and this major manipulation is one of the main reasons golfers can't evolve the way they want to; Jack said it over 30 years ago; "stop trying to hit the ball straight! "
By: clemshaw. on 04 May 12, 18:17:29
Yes to first question and you can also do the second option; both? are great but the second will give you a more relaxed feel in the arms; both are effective though because it is a glancing blow...if you want to apply squeeze and compression and spin to the ball, use that stronger grip! Shawn
By: MikePedersenGolfTips. on 02 May 12, 12:57:08
Shawn, would you say these techniques are for the better player? I'd think for the high handicapper who has a tough time chipping generally, this would be really tough for them. I'm just? wondering for what level golfer you think this should be for?
By: thefonz147. on 28 Apr 12, 02:28:40
I used to be a duffer for years, constantly struggling to make solid ball first contact. Shawn's videos helped me change? my focus from trying to hit the ball first, to being more conscious of my center of gravity, and keeping that point in front of the ball. I'm a duffer no more. And I don't. Feel like quitting a game I love anymore. Thanks Shawn!
By: Kepahl. on 27 Apr 12, 22:46:47
Why is the weight on your front foot? I do the opposite of your style.? Weight on front for low runners, weight on back for soft lobs. Open face for lobs closed face for runners.
By: cmterpsnskins. on 27 Apr 12, 18:17:57
Shawn, one thing I am? always confused about -- do you open the face, then grip the club? And, if so, do you use your normal grip, which in my case is a strong grip. So, do i open the face, then grip the club using my normal strong grip, or would it be more of a neutral grip.
By: silowhore. on 27 Apr 12, 17:37:04
couple of quick questions shawn, i hear a lot of different info regarding opening up the? body and club face when chipping and pitching etc, when you open the club face, do you turn away from the target and point the opened face squarely at the target like say phil mickelson? and also, when you open your body and club face up are you aligning your shoulders? with your body, or with the target? Thanks
By: bluejfk. on 27 Apr 12, 07:09:14
@sweetasanutnz strict and rigid principles? And those would be? What strict and rigid principles do Phil, Jim Furyk, Jack Nicklaus and Bubba Watson share.? When you can answer that you would be? in a league by yourself!
By: RogueDogg1. on 27 Apr 12, 03:43:51
I'd like to take a stab here...look at Hank Haney and he has shown on his show several times to move the club forward then start your back? swing and complete the down swing, Shawn's leg movement simulates that to a degree. I have watched alot ( not all ) of Shawn's videos and they have helped me tremendously so far and i've been playing since age 9. There's no 1 way to swing or play golf so if what works for him helps others...PERFECT !!!
By: sweetasanutnz. on 26 Apr 12, 09:41:23
An interesting analogy but for golf (where you are not walking down a street) it is a little flawed. For sure, golf is traditionally taught using some very robust and strict principals that don't make it the easiest sport to pick? up. I am open to the new stuff, so will take your word that it works in its own special way, but personally I won't start bobbing.
By: clemshaw. on 26 Apr 12, 03:48:12
When you walk down a busy city street and watch others walk around, do you see heads gliding at the same level of bobbing up and down? Dude, you just fear what you don't understand; we have been on this planet over 2 million years and we were born to be in harmony with gravity; see "horse? shoes and Lassos" video first and then see "create serious speed; shawn clement" and "feet together and one leg update; Shawn..."; relax and enjoy! :) Shawn

You have a whole family of acolytes here in southern Ohio, Shawn. Next to my sister in law you're? my favorite Canadian;)

I've been having trouble with chips? from about 10-15 yards onto downhill lies with little room to work with. Is this type of shot a good way of dealing with that?
