Nothing wrong with being super into sports, I love certain sports (soccer and basketball namely). I guess my opinion of DKM fandom is "rabid or nothing", so I've never been down for those who show up to see a band play one song (I mean, how "working class"? can these fans be if they easily shell out 30 bucks and they only dig "Shipping up to Boston"? I damn near starve myself to get DKM tickets when they come to San Antonio!)

I respect it that you work, as I do for my mine. All of my family is in Mass. and I visit when I can and its a small place, not everyone can afford sox tickets every week or pats,celts,bruins etc Its a tough tough place to live alone let alone with family, so the old saying in football the 12th man they? are that for the Patriots and teams,we just take our sports really serious because they will be there unlike our jobs and other sure things etc. Its hard everywhere,glad DKM play

That doesn't mean I don't love their new stuff, cause I do. If they went completely sports based after the? success of Tessie, I would have lost interest, but instead released "Meanest of TImes" and "Going out in Style" (the latter I was excited for because my dad had passed a year earlier and the theme hit home with me). None of those albums have songs based on sports (yes, "Hang em High" was adopted by the Bruins, but it wasn't written for em).

Well not ALL of em are huge sports fans (Al says he doesn't care in several interviews), but yeah there is no getting around Ken's Beantown pride, which of course includes? the sports and whatnot. I'm just saying, as someone who works my ass off each and every day to support my widowed mother and younger bro, that the working class anthems have a lot more meaning than sports (which I consider trivial next to the plight of the American worker).

I think what we can both agree on is that the essence of DKM isn't sports, but the working class patriotic background they came from. "Tessie" and "Shipping up to Boston" will never be as good as "Heroes from our Past" and "Homeward Bound". Oh and I'm not completely anti-sport, as I'm an absolute fanatic when it comes to football (the football you actually? play with your feet, that is). Can't wait for SA to get our team next year!
