I've seen tests for adhesive on buildings where the steel actually broke before the adhesive bond did. The piece was broken off when the starter bracket broke, which left only one bolt holding the starter on the car. That one bolt eventually snapped a piece of the block off the motor. Granted you want to start with simple green or another good degreaser, but more for? the mating surfaces you want to mate with two part compound. The advantage there is that you literally pit the alu and that lends to adhesion with the desired adhesive. It's not 1983, adhesives are PHENOMENAL these days. Add shavings, will travel. What I tell people to do is buy the cheaper of the three. There's not enough difference to claim anyone superior. As for the Flex, you must be using way to aggressive of a compound and running the polisher way to fast if you're removing paint off corners. This is a common novice mistake. I am not clear ... However, it does not have low end torque. So I just bought a Griot because it has a more powerful motor (7amps vs 4 amps). The Flex DA seems to have too much of an aggressive rotary action (I know it is a DA -orbits and rotary), less fool proof. You care to comment. You don't use Swirl and Haze Remover (SHR) WITHOUT following it with Fine Machine Polish (FMP)! SHR is supposed to leave the paint looking dull. That's the trade off when you remove all of the paint damage. You then need to follow it with FMP in order to bring the shine back. That's how it works. Although there are products on the market that have been manufactured for doing this, I do not use them. I feel that the more lubricant that you use when washing a car, the better it is for the paint. Nothing is as safe as a good ol' quality soap and plenty of clean water. Lots of variables involved with deciding to use it. How dirty the paint is, how long it's been dirty, what? type of containments, etc. Not to mention technique most importantly.
